Are you okay with Canon Puncturing in regards to your character? (Having your character be told they are fictional IC)? Megaera's used to that by now...
Status Screen (Character Info)
Name: Megaera D'Ashland
Canon: (Original Character)
Title: High-Op Hottie (she charmed her Netherworld's Senate into that at some point).
Background:
Megaera D'Ashland was born with really good stat rolls. In a world like hers where those rolls separated a truly worthy adventurer or great figure from the countless NPCs, the value of such a blessing could never be understated. Better yet, her world had just finished updating to D&D 3.5, providing some serious balance upgrades - and enough loopholes for a potential munchkin to get very, very, very creative.
From a young age, Megaera started figuring out her plans - revising them again and again as she was introduced to a new shiny class, template, or feat, until finally, she'd figured out three things:
1) She wanted to be a Power Behind The Throne type. They were cooler than actual kings and queens.
2) She was going to have to unlock Gestalt leveling, which would allow her to gain all the benefits of two classes at once, if she wanted to really get herself optimized.
3) Better to be powerful in hell than weak in heaven... As long as you're powerful enough.
Her potential rapidly began to prove itself as she started learning magic - naturally social and charismatic, she was able to lead groups easily and learned rapidly, soon learning the basics of wizardry, the school best suited to having a preparation handy for absolutely every situation... And then turning it all into a risky bet at getting her chance.
Summoning a demon, Megaera made her first offer:
"One soul for you granting me a wish."
"Deal."
"... Wait, was it that easy?"
"I'm lazy, and you're crazy enough to summon me."
"Here. Stashed in a gem, even."
"Shiny! ... But it's not yours."
"Nope."
"... It's a rabbit or something isn't it?"
"... Maybe."
"I hate you."
"You were too lazy to specify."
"... What's the wish? I owe my wife dinner in like an hour."
"I wish to become an NPC Gestalt Succubus."
"... I'm not sure that I can grant that with the Wish's-"
And then Megaera was a demon. "Done!", she declared happily.
"... What."
"I don't really know."
"But... Oh, whatever. I'm going home."
"Bye!"
With that, Megaera D'Ashland was cursed to forever walk the Netherworld, unable to return to her former homeworld except for when she used special magic she'd specificially prepared for returning to her former homeworld whenever she wanted. Not that it had much for her besides the occasional team of paladins trying to kill her or stop whatever petty schemes she'd set up there. Recovering her stuff, she quickly decided to move on to the Netherworld - a more interesting place to pursue her class levels, and pursue her greater plot of taking over the world - in this case, the Netherworld.
Her plan was simple - something would inevitably topple the Netherworld's ruler, Overlord Moloth. When it did, one of his children would, almost certainly, inherit the title, that being the normal way these sorts of stories went. Have enough of them under her influence in one or another way, and whoever won, she'd be the one who came out on top. Fortunately, she could start with what seemed one of the weakest candidates - a half-Succubus named Veluna, probably hardly capable of putting up a fight even. Megaera even already had two levels on her!
"Hardly", however, meant there was a chance. And that meant it was time for Megaera to eliminate that chance via a carefully calculated scheme - sneaking into Veluna's castle and placing contingent spells on many of Veluna's servants - focusing on those who would likely join her in a potential battle. Then, she kidnapped a few more, charming them into joining her nascent force and leaving just enough of a trail to get Veluna to follow her - where Megaera triggered her spell, charming Veluna's entire team into fighting their rightful leige, assuring she would be overpowered and beaten down until Megaera could ensorcell her freely and begin her progress towards ruling the Netherworld!
... And then Veluna simply beat up every last person in the room. Particularly Megaera. Afraid for her life, Megaera panickedly used her succubus charms - which were almost assured to fail in the heat of battle... And then Veluna suddenly, as if inspired by caprice, simply forced Megaera to become her vassal instead of killing her.
To say this left Megaera rather despondant would be kind of an understatement. Placed in this position, her ability to get at any of the other siblings would be next to nil, meaning her only hope of attaining power was to get Veluna, possibly one of Moloth's dimmest children, onto the throne.
Worse yet was dealing with chaos of Veluna's siblings. First, there was Veluna's half-vampire brother, Edward, whose tendency to stuff pot roasts in candles and pushing the limits of the game's ESRB rating with sheer curse word use left her aggravated enough to try and track him by the sparkles he left behind when angry... Which got her chided by Veluna, because surely he'd be a more interesting opponent three episodes from now when he came back. Especially since his castle had just collapsed.
Then Veluna's flame demon older sibling, Animak - also known as the MANLY MAN, who bristled at Veluna daring to say she could take him in a fight. Even though she could. Eight times in a row. With Megaera getting more and more annoyed at the pointlessness of this all the while, until Veluna finally snapped, surprising and impressing Megaera (and Megaera's nekomata sister, Saleese) with a loud, angry rant about the fact that she's pretty damned well proven that she could out-fight him, so why the hell was he still trying?
Fortunately, the martial-arts-dojo zombie and undead dragon were more normal sorts - dedicated to their craft, they stayed out of the fight for the throne, leaving Megaera free to do other things while Veluna trained... Until Veluna fielded Megaera multiple times against the waves of opponents she was training against, inspiring a reaction that can only be defined as "Tsunning"..
And then there came a vampire. Again When Megaera and Veluna happened to be out shopping, Edward returned to steal Megaera's old scheme - placing Veluna's forces under a spell to render them loyal to him, then hiding out in Veluna's castle. Veluna's massive, side-quest-filled castle. (Hey, no one else had wanted it!) Needless to say, Megaera was pissed as hell - no way she could let someone just ape her old evil scheme! Yet, as Megaera figured out, the man hadn't even thought to have the shopkeeps deny Megaera service - even if that meant they were helping Veluna directly. With Megaera figuring out a counterspell, he fell in turn - and this time, after going into a dramatic alternate form ("You're not the final boss!"), defeat- er, forcefully recruiting him (no way they were letting that trope go off in Veluna's castle)
... One to be matched with an equal frustration when Angels began snooping around the castle for some reason, inspiring Veluna to go challenge a bunch of Celestials to a fight. One of whom turned out to be Veluna's half-sister, proving once and for all that the Gigolo Overlord knew no bounds. Oddly, the trials they underwent up here - including encounters with the local Seraph - were what finally inspired Megaera to admit that she was actually in love with Veluna on a real level...
... A fact that got her kidnapped soon afterwards. Mochavellis, the half-cockatrice and strongest of Veluna's brothers, had kidnapped Megaera and placed her in a trap - forcing Veluna to decide between advancing in her goals by taking a rare chance at fighting the strongest of her brothers, or trying to save Megaera.
She chose wisely (for once), going to save Megaera alone. By the time she had returned, the Cockatrice was dead, apparently at Saleese's hands, and everyone on Saleese's team was too scared to talk about the details of how he was slain.
And then promptly reminded the world that she wasn't all that wise by asking for Megaera's hand in marriage. At the wedding, she found out that her post-reception wedding present would consist of the biggest brawl in the Netherworld's history - forcing Megaera to skip the entire plane of existence and talk a bunch of Angels into helping calm the ensuing riot. The ploy almost succeeded, until Veluna declared she could take all 108 remaining demons in the room with just her and Megaera, which included at least two professional Final Bosses - forcing the two to back up her statement (ultimately successfully).
... Before getting kidnapped by a bunch of Prinnies and dragged to a different Netherworld.
Personality:
Megaera is, particularly when compared against her wife, a schemer and a plotter. From a very young age, she had her character build figured out - and she kept developing and improving it as she set up her plans to gain control of the Netherworld. Unfortunately, her usually overelaborate plans mostly end badly, in spite of her significant power and excellent eye for numbers and detail - both talents that work excellently in her favor when she sticks to simpler plans or just wings it (the latter much more common than the former). It's safe to say that the only plan Megaera ever saw to perfect fruition was the simple one that granted her the power of a succubus.
Megaera is also a min-maxer - she has spent a decade and a half, from a very young age, optimizing her build to be the best Wizard she can be. She is very prideful about her arcane talents, and keeps close track of evolutions and things that might make her more flexible in any situation.
In spite of this, Megaera is friendly, overt, and positive in her outlook. She's certainly capable in a fight, but prefers to befriend people and play the diplomat instead whenever she gets the chance - and not just because her powers and natural charisma make her very good at it. (Needless to say, this makes Veluna's fight-happy way of life a running source of aggravation from Megaera.)
Megaera's love for Veluna - a comparatively simple girl, the one person Megaera has never (certainly) manipulated successfully, and whose attitude often drives Megaera up the wall - seems to make little sense at first glance. However, the love runs very deep, and Megaera cares for few things more than her wife's well-being - a motivation that carries her to great successes regularly. She certainly matches Veluna's sheer level of affection.
Being what she is, however, Megaera likes to enjoy other's company as well, whenever she gets a chance; it's not so much whether or not she's faithful, as much as a preference for variation to avoid a boring, humdrum life. Push come to shove, however, Veluna will always come first in Megaera's eyes.
Evilities:
* Gestalt Levels: Megaera's world runs on a modified Dungeons and Dragons 3rd Edition, as opposed to Disgaea's usual ruleset, allowing her to level multiple classes in one incarnation. On top of this, Megaera used a powerful wish to Reincarnate with Gestalt Levels, allowing her to level in two classes at a time, taking the best of each stat or ability upgrade from both, running through a ridiculously elaborate array of classes, prestige classes, and alternate features to attain her abilities.
* Epic-scale Witch: As of the end of the Wedding Incident, Megaera is 23rd level (due to the exponential level rates in post-story content in Disgaea, this is equivalent to approximately 100th level in Disgaea terms). Most importantly, this includes the Epic Spellcasting feat, which allows Megaera, with enough time, research, and work, to create just about any imaginable magical effect. (Needless to say, I OOC'ly would be limiting what she does with this.)
* Succubus Powers: Megaera's nature as a Succubus gives her an array of powers - related to, but distinct from those of Disgaea succubi. Her signature abilties include flight, charming people, convincing people of things that she says, and teleportation to areas she's familiar with. (Unfortunately, someone reset her stock of places, so she can't leave the Academy's Netherworld with that last one...)
* Munchkin Mindset: Megaera is good at analyzing the numbers behind any situation, and can immediately figure out if there are any rules exploits she can manipulate for maximum benefit.
Inventory:
* Lots of Hel: 23rd-level Wealth By Level adds up fast
* Wedding Dress: Similar style to Veluna's, but fitted to Megaera's specific sizes.
* Wedding Ring: A plain, gold band with no magic on it.
* Various Magic Items: Megaera has a supply of useful stat sticks, per-day effects, wands and staves of various spells and the like that she keeps handy for various purposes, all held within the classic D&D cheat of a Bag Of Holding sewn to the inside of a Handy Haversack (which means whatever item she's looking for will be on top). Nothing artifact-level, and nothing that'd superbly jump out in a Netherworld setting.
* Magic Supply Lab: A place for crafting items, including a forge, alchemical supplies, and other needed resources. The Prinnies, being lazy, stuck the entire room in a box, ready to be added to a dorm room or the like via space-warping magic whenever Megaera remembers it exists.
